Projets France Relance / Simulation Bassin de Thau

Consortium: UPPA, IRT St Exupéry, RPT, AZTI.
Dates: 2022 – 2024.
Funding: France Relance, IRT St Exupéry, UPPA, RPT.
This initiative actually combined two research programs :
(i) the project “Simulation Bassin de Thau”, which was led by IRT St Exupéry, and
(ii) a research project of Kostarisk granted by the “France Relance” program of the French Government.
The Kostarisk team collaborated closely with the experts from IRT St Exupéry to develop an innovative method allowing to derive nearshore bathymetric maps from coastal video images. The method relied on Artificial Intelligence (AI) approach to offer an efficient solution to perform a bathymetric inversion in an operational, real-time context.
This work was complemented by the development of the capacities of the Boussinesq-type model BOSZ, developed at UPPA, for a use in realistic and forecasting applications. This work included adapting the model to different environments, bathymetric configurations and wave conditions, as encountered at real sites. It also involved an intensive validation against downscale laboratory data.
