The BOSZ model, a phase-resolving Boussinesq-type hydrodynamic tool, enables detailed simulation of wave dynamics, including run-up, impact forces, and coastal currents. However, such high-resolution modeling over large coastal domains demands significant computational resources.

To address this, the project proposes a variable mesh strategy, which refines resolution only where needed, reducing overall computational cost compared to unstructured triangular meshes. This development will be integrated into BOSZ within a postdoctoral research framework (postdoc Umberto Bosi) and aligned with the EU Regions4Climate project. It includes the creation of visualization tools and demonstration cases, with applications on the Basque coast. The goal is to enhance coastal risk modeling through scalable, efficient HPC techniques.
