MARLIT
Consortium: AZTI, UPPA, RPT, UPC.
Dates: 2020 – 2022.
Funding: POCTEFA.
The MARLIT project started concomitantly to the official launch of KOSTARISK and was thus a premiere for the joint lab framework.
MARLIT focused on improving the understanding and management of coastal risks caused by storms along the French-Spanish Basque coast and the Catalan coast.
The project enhanced forecasting tools and develop innovative monitoring systems to better anticipate and mitigate the impacts of extreme weather events, which are becoming more frequent due to climate change. It explored autonomous topographic observations, videometric tools, and high-resolution wave propagation models to assess storm impacts.
The project also explored practical solutions to reduce risks in densely populated coastal areas, particularly urbanized zones.
MARLIT supported public authorities in designing effective coastal protection strategies and emergency responses.
