Rivages Pro Tech (RPT) is a science-based monitoring and forecasting service center, which is part of the Suez Tech Solutions, a business unit of Suez group.

With main facilities located on the French Basque coast (Bidart), RPT team works for 15+ years at developing and operating real time monitoring and early warning systems based on operational oceanography tools and Data analytics, in order to support local authorities in the management of coastal water environments. The work of RPT is supported by a team with multidisciplinary expertise in e.g. ocean dynamics, river hydraulics, data analytics, marine biology, microbiology, numerical modelling.

Services provided by RPT cover 2 main fields of applications :

  • Water Quality & Sanitary Risks
  • Waves & Coastal Risks

The involvement of RPT in Kostarisk relates to the second field of applications dedicated to Waves & Coastal Risks management.

As part of its services, RPT offers fully autonomous day-to-day support to coastal water management based on innovative monitoring, prediction and tailored decision-aid indicators operated in real time through dedicated IT solutions. RPT team also provides 7d/24h on-call duty for its expert team and forecasters to assist decision making, especially in emergency context and crisis management.

RPT has always had a strong commitment in Research & Development activities since its creation. This commitment is seen as an absolute necessity to offer innovative solutions and ensure a continuous improvement in the technologies supporting its services. Today, 30% of RPT activity is dedicated to Research & Innovation programs. A large majority of these activities are conducted in collaboration with academic and institutional research actors following an open innovation approach, through different partnerships with laboratories. KOSTARISK is one of the main research partnerships of RPT, which is dedicated to waves and coastal risk management activities.
